another idea

showers are great - I want to remember these things:

battle haikus

'areas' should be a standard room size (13), configured spatially like a cube, but with exits however, to make it a maze.

A standard size can fit into a scalable sphere shape, which leads to all sorts of awesome. room -> area -> planet ->

oh, web browsable mode, so you can grind against monsters and build up stats/xp, and explore without PK, is a great way to attract people, and good for playing at work. Separating PK solves the problem of syncing up time scales.

Time delays, instead of hp (on the browseable?).. something to ponder. Sort of ties in the racing genre. ( CAPTCHA COMBAT ?!?!?! )

server knows your ID, throws you uniqueid.jpg, stores uniqueid serverside in your pfile. Ro-Cham-Beau.

also, CSS chessboards!

Stupid v. Evil

Not exactly breaking news, but here's a transcript of Bush from the Today show:

Some Americans believe that they feel they’re carrying the burden because of this economy.

G. BUSH: Yeah, well…

CURRY: They say we’re suffering because of this.

G. BUSH: … I don’t agree with that.

CURRY: You don’t agree with that? It has nothing do with the economy, the war — spending on the war?

G. BUSH: I don’t think so.

I think actually the spending in the war might help with jobs.

CURRY: Oh, yeah?

G. BUSH: Yeah, because we’re buying equipment, and people are working.

I think this economy is down because we built too many houses and the economy’s adjusting.

It's just hard to take him seriously; as Think Progress points out, we are spending an enormous amount of money on this war. Where exactly does Bush think this money is coming from?

Or, to take the cynical view, is he just trying to spin reality so that he may pursue his personal agenda?

Stupid, or Evil. That's an awesome decision to have to make. And either way, it's a pile of Bullshit.

Another letter to my Senator

Re: S.Amdt. 3907

Retroactive Immunity, is not acceptable.. ever.

What ridiculous hypothetical situation, ever, would warrant this?

I mean, if they hypothetically broke some law, and it comes out that they did, presumably at the request of the President, they should already be immune: pretty clearly, still, Bush/Cheney is the fountainhead of all this.

This is just more bullshit to cover Bush's ass, and shame on you, not only as a Democrat, but as a person, to go out of your way to cover some rich guy's ass.

---

This Vote was specifically about granting retroactive immunity from prosecution for the telecommunication companies.

As in, Congress is lining up to pass a bill that says, "So if it comes out later that these guys broke the law by spying on all of us (not that we admit they have, we're just saying), uhh.. let's give them a get out of jail free card."

Awesome.

Ramble amblings

So, I've not had any requests or comments about the mud being down, so I haven't felt a lot of pressure to turn it back on. (I am reasonably stable though - if someone would like to play on it, shoot an email to anything at this domain.)

I just had an idea though, which I'd like to put down here. (What is Nolimyn?)

What would be nice is a collective of games, like Yahoo's deal, but with a universal score.

Which is really what a casino is, with money as the collective.

So here is the idea (read: experiment)!

Every day, each person (read: account) gets 100 'points' a day. Starting with more traditional casino games, people can gamble for 'points'. 100 is a completely arbitrary number; as long as all players are treated equally, it shouldn't matter.

Let's also say that each person can buy points at the rate of 1 point = 1 US Dollar, but that nolimyn.com will never buy points (i.e., it's not a true bank). So, that kind of ties it into the real world economy, which A) makes it interesting in that real casinoey way, and B) gives some sort of scalable business model to the whole experiment.

So obviously, it would be awesome if NOLIMYN.COM were the new MySpace, and I became an internet Millionare. Aim High!

The Value to Society (this is the part where my business plan rocks and MySpace's is hollow), is the code stays open, and the results of the games stays open, so we can generate a ton of anonymous statistical data.

So say we have a blackjack table with traditional gambling rules. And we have a chess game where every time you take a piece, the other player owes you a point. Or another one where the pieces' value is weighted! (I have been playing a lot of chess lately!)

Then, by eying the economy, we can tweak values and rules in individual games to balance everything out. (I'll trade you a sack of berry pies from mud.nolimyn.com for a Rook in chess.nolimyn.com! Nah man, I deal strictly in points.) Hah, that would be awesome on a massively multiplayer scale.

So consider this the Alpha stage. Starting today, 12 February 2008, to start collecting Points, send an email to signup@nolimyn.com containing an Alias and a Password, and I'll add you to the ledger.

Mm, aliases and point totals will be public information, and email addresses will be private by default.

The first Player will be 'nolimyn.com', as of 1202860112.542752, measured in seconds since the Unix epoch, with a balance of 100 points.
