Hey Fred -
Regarding HR 4279, and all of this copyright talk lately: I can't help but feel like there's more important things for us to be worrying about right now. It seems a little obvious that this agenda is being lobbied for by the commercial media interests - which is fair enough - and while the rest of us are going through some kind of rough times, it's awkward to see our government laying down tougher laws to protect some of the richest people in our society.
Let alone, on principle, in a country that is supposed to be founded on Free Speech, in a City that has some pretty rampant crime issues, it's flabbergasting to consider that some people would propose using our police force and resources to go after MUSIC PIRACY.
How about we go after the guys who smash in my windows during broad daylight? How about the gang of kids that beat my neighbor unconscious, on Territorial Road, not more than a mile from your house, sir? How about Iraq? Gas prices? Alternative Energies?
We do not need the "Intellectual Property Enforcement Division", and we can't afford the damn thing.
Please, please, please, consider voting against it. It is a wasteful, and completely futile, effort to address an "issue" which concerns only a very elite cabal of Americans.
Cheers,
Japhy
ps - Impeaching Bush would let the Republicans begin to distance themselves from this entire debacle in the middle East, and - in case you missed the polls - is ridiculously popular. Not just with me.
